Like a playful table-cloth at a summer picnic, this loosely checkered grid is the result of casual dabs of watercolour bleeding across the pencilled guidelines of a rough-hewn canvas backing. Artist Gabrielle Lasporte is generally pretty good at colouring inside the lines, but in this case has chosen to deliberately ignore them.
