With this versatile pattern, Artist Ryan Tomkinson combines a variety of basic circle and square elements into a pleasing mosaic of shapes, weights, dots, and lines. Upon a simple grid scaffold are embedded a series full, semi, and quarter circles. They’ve been rendered solid, polka-dot, and striped with a variety of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal bars. The overall effect creates a compelling expression of controlled chaos — a recurring theme in Tomkinson’s work.
