Founded on a platform of quality goods, travel, and customer loyalty, the Simons brand plays an innovative role in the Canadian retail world — spanning nearly 175 years of growth. The latest developments include award-winning store locations in Galeries d’Anjou in Montreal, along with the newest 120,000-square foot department store in the West Edmonton Mall. The Alberta addition acts as a foothold towards further development in the west, with plans for additional locations to come.
While each retail space features varying creative configurations, the highlights include a massive window graphic in muted tones that incorporates printing white ink on a clear film that is applied directly to the glass entryway. Given this application, the custom design is experienced both prior to entering the store, as well as from within the walls of the interior space.
This element also ties into the drop-down fitting room pods in the young women’s department, which include a custom lifting mechanism, powdered aluminum framing, original block-out fabric in Rollout patterns that complement the vibrant palette, along with custom murals and cohesive visual branding throughout the entire space. The collaborative success of this designed environment, created in conjunction with client figure3, and fixture fabricator, Eventscape, is recognized through two A.R.E. Design Awards.
Highlights also include murals in the men’s streetwear departments of two locations, with richly hued chevron designs layered with parkour-inspired graphics in the Edmonton store, and inspirations rooted in graffiti by A'shop and raw concrete in the Montreal store.
